Project Description:
Road Salt along with things like fertilizer has long been identified as a contributor to impacting the natural chemical balance of our lake (also nearly every lake). From time to time, the CLA has made efforts to increase awareness around this issue. As it is, the pending updated watershed management plan includes as the first listed objective “Manage the Conesus Lake Watershed in ways that control inputs of sediment and minimize entry of Phosphorous, Sodium, and Chloride , and other potential pollutants into the lake. The CLA is identified as a key player in regard to disseminating information to our members as residents of the watershed.
Immediate Needs:
- We would like to create a workgroup to help define exactly the areas the CLA is able and willing to act to help support these CLWMP objectives and actions that support them as well as identify any other efforts that might be undertaken to help understand the specific impacts of any of these sediments within our lake.
