Project Description:
Several years ago, the CLA was a pioneer in establishing one of the first watercraft stewardship programs in the state. It has proven successful and has grown. The Stewards themselves are now employed by NYS Parks & Recreation and are managed by NY PRISM as part of their efforts in managing invasive species throughout NYS. While the Parks department owns the pressure washer, the CLA continues to support them by facilitating maintenance of the unit, providing additional training on the use of the pressure washer, and also providing information specific to our lake to help the Stewards in their Q&A with users of the state ramp.
Immediate Needs:
- While this program continues to be a success, it would be helpful to find someone other than myself to take the lead on training the Stewards in the Spring (a one time event). It does require understanding the workings of the pressure washer. This person could also become a liaison to NYS Parks as well as NY PRISM (who manages the Stewardship program)
- With success always comes new challenges. With the increased use of the pressure washer, we are now getting noise complaints from the residents that live nearby. We need to investigate potential solutions to address the noise problem.
